Weekend Japanology

Weekend Japanology is an English program for worldwide broadcast. Bringing often-neglected aspects of the Japanese society and culture into light, the entire program is a complete breakaway from stereotyped images of Japan and its people.
The program covers a wide range of topics including traditional culture, seasonal foods and customs, everyday life, latest fads and fashion trends. Internationally active guests are invited to the studio to share their own Japanese experiences and speak on Japan as they see it.

In the fall, farming areas across Japan glimmer with golden rice stalks. Most Japanese people eat rice every day. Traditionally, villagers have worked side by side to support their rice-based diet. Their prayers for abundant crops spawned a special culture, including rice rituals and festivals. With our guest Mr. Ishizuki, we'll delve into the passion he and his colleagues share for cultivating rice.
